Tour Details
I will pick your group of up to 6 people from any Dublin hotel or from a cruise ship in the port and I will drive you to County Wicklow (south of Dublin City). Here we will visit Glendalough and its early Christian monastery founded in the 6th century by St Kevin. I will walk you through the various religious buildings adding information about these and the surroundings. We can visit either or both of the lakes of the valley by taking a stroll along green paths, part of which is the world famous way marked Wicklow Way.
Then we will drive through the Wicklow Mountain National Park and view magnificent scenery of mountains rivers and lakes as well as pass a number of sites where famous movies and TV series have been set. We will stop for a photo opportunity overlooking the Guinness Lake.
Then a visit to Powerscourt House and Gardens which has been reckoned by National Geographic as number 3 in the world, and if time allows we can include Ireland’s highest waterfall. Powerscourt is a real must see when visiting County Wickow. It is also a haven for shoppers with a liking for all things Irish, woollens, tweeds etc.
A day tour like this can also include a panoramic drive around the principal sites and sights of Dublin’s centre city.
Terms & Conditions
My name is Sean Patrick O’Rourke and I am a fully badged national tourist guide for all 32 counties north and south, trained and licensed by Failte Ireland which is the Irish Tourist Board. I am also a licensed driver of all vehicles from luxury saloon cars up to a 16 seater bus. Under current legislation in Ireland I am one of the few who are qualified to drive and guide in all these classes of vehicles.
For the majority of my own tours I use my own touring vehicle which is a modern, clean, air conditioned luxury touring Mercedes Viano (or for smaller numbers of 1 to 3 I drive a Mercedes E220 Saloon). It is capable of carrying up to 6 passengers. With sizeable luggage the ideal capacity is 4 passengers. (a larger vehicle can be brought in and the prices are different for that)
It should be noted that motoring in Ireland comparative to other countries is expensive (my touring vehicles cost 75,000 euro and 55,000 euro respectively). On the other hand a small private tour with a properly qualified driver guide in Ireland is quite a unique and valuable experience. Many of the places you will see and visit will be added to by the colourful narrative of the driver guide. I will be there beside you to answer a multitude of questions about Ireland and its fascinating culture and history.
- Driver Guide hours on the road are carefully monitored by our National Roads Authority for safety reasons. It is very important to note that the normal touring day quoted above includes my services as a driver guide for up to 8 hours including lunch break. I must stress that longer timeframes and ex and a full tra site visits may not be possible or cost more and would be decided on the day. Please note also that all prices above do not include any site entry fees or any food and refreshments.
These costs do NOT include hotels, air fares, lunches, dinners, any internal site entry fees (usually quite small). When a full itinerary is planned and dates are confirmed I will then add accommodations as required and a full cost package.

Please be aware that during all tours I apply strict government and EU rules about items that are not allowed in the touring vehicle. No meals of hot food or hot drinks (teas, coffees) are permitted. No alcohol, no potato chips of any sort or no chewing gums are permitted and each vehicle is a NON smoking one.
