Tour Details
On this tour of one to six hours depending on your requests I can show you where all the primary sites are. I can bring you to the Guinness Storehouse (Ireland’s number one numerical tourist attraction). You will see how to get to Trinity College and the Book of Kells. I will take you through Georgian Dublin and show you some of the most wonderful old Georgian and Victorian pubs and tell you some of their stories. You can visit Dublin’s Georgian squares with their beautifully landscaped gardens (one of which has been used as a model for Central Park in New York). You will be shown all the best shopping areas and a brief run through of Dublin’s historical attractions like the two cathedrals, St Patricks and Christ Church as well as the historic foundations of the Viking city nearby. Then perhaps a walk through the very colourful Temple Bar area where all the Dublin night life keeps going till the wee hours and which is packed with traditional old pubs, restaurants and theatres. Then on to the Halfpenny Bridge, an iconic symbol of the city and down to O’Connell Bridge and O’Connell Street. Hear all about Daniel O’Connell The liberator who brought about Catholic Emancipation in 1829. On into O’Connell Street and the General Post Office which is held in great esteem in Dublin as it was the centre of operations for the 1916 Easter Rising which in due course had a hand in bringing about our county’s independence in 1922.
